Decorations and Safety

November 8th, 2008 by Brian Johnson

When you are decorating your tree this year it is important to consider safety. Although the holidays are supposed to be a time of peace and joy there are still people who prey on other individuals. Many of the ways you can ensure your safety is by the placement of the Christmas tree in the home, shopping details, and after the holiday considerations.

Christmas is a time when most people get out and shop more than they would any other time of year. Thieves often prey on homes. Thousands of people have found they have come home before the holidays to find they have been robbed of all of their gifts and more. It is important to practice safety when you are out during the holiday season.

Shopping is a lot of fun but many people often lose their sense of awareness when they are out in a big parking lot with all of their gift bags. Once leaving the mall it may be the first breath of fresh air away from the chaotic shoppers and nice to get away from it all. When someone jumps you at gunpoint it completely will take you buy surprise. This is why when you are out shopping this year be sure to get the closest parking space possible, shop with a friend, and pay attention to your surroundings at all times.

Many people don’t think that the location of their artificial Christmas trees in their home makes a difference but for decorations. There are people who stake out neighborhoods and look for homes with big trees and an abundance of gifts under the tree. When they leave for work, the home is broken into and all of the gifts are stolen from the tree. If you want to put prelit Christmas trees by the window do not break out the gifts and stack them high enough for a thief to see. Look from the outside of your home and verify a robber could not see any gifts inside of the windows.

After Christmas is over people also don’t think about the risk they pose when they set their trash outside for the trash company. All of the boxes are set out on the curb. The problem this creates is that thieves only need to drive through the streets to see which homes bought the big screen televisions and the other big gift electronic items. Big boxes on the curb only announce to thieves you have large electronics in your home. Break the boxes up so it is not obvious what items people received in the home.

The holidays are supposed to be a wonderful time of year. Many people often have a terrible holiday season because they indirectly enticed a thief and didn’t even know it. This year one of the best things you can do is be sure you are using the ultimate safety when you set up your tree in your home, go shopping, and dispose of the boxes for trash.

Decorating for the Holidays

October 29th, 2008 by Brian Johnson

Decorating for the holidays can be a lot of fun. There are many reasons why you should consider decorating this year. Many of the reasons include instilling the holiday spirit, it is more inviting to neighbors and guests, and you will feel much better too.

The first thing you want to do when you decorate for the holidays is look at the many different types of Christmas trees to choose from. You have to do a tree this year whether it is a real tree or fake. The real trees are wonderful but they do require a little maintenance. Many people love them because of the fresh smell of the trees. Some people love the artificial Christmas trees because they can be used throughout the years and they require little maintenance. Many people try to place their tree in their home where people on the street can see the lights.

Another good thing to use during the holidays is wreaths. A wreath on the door is very inviting and it shows you have holiday spirit. There are many different types of wreaths you can choose from. If you are low on funds for decorating you might even consider making your own wreath from branches, limbs from the artificial Christmas trees and other various things. There are many sizes of wreaths. You might fix one centered on the front door, on the garage door, or somewhere that the street or visitors can see it.

Some people love to use lights for the holiday season. If you really want to brighten up your home you might decide on using various colors of lights or even a multi-colored strand of lights. The white lights also look nice and festive if you want to use all white. You might even consider lining the roof of your home with the white icicle lights. Many people love this look as well.

Decorating your home is a lot of fun and it makes people feel good. The holiday season can be stressful times for many people financially. This is why you should offset the stress by decorating your home. The lights can be therapeutic and hypnotic as you stare at your nicely decorated tree. It will make you feel much better everyday throughout the holiday. When you bring guests to your home this year they will be much more relaxed also. Decorations are inviting to neighbors and friends and they want to know you are feeling festive. No one wants to go to a holiday party where there are no decorations because they won’t feel the warm inviting feeling they should.

Decorating for the holidays is important for everyone to do who gets into the season. If you are going to hold a party and have friends and guests over you have got to decorate. You should decorate for you too. The lights from the decorations can provide a calming effect for you. Decorations also help instill the spirit. Even in hard times you can feel positive about the New Year to come.
